January
Here she is, she was bound to come, no matter how much I dreaded her coming.....yes I'm talking about January, mainly the first few weeks of her! I'm trying to get back into routine, have taken babysteps getting all the Christmas put away! Have'nt been sleeping well at night, and I don't get into a good sleep until DH leaves and the sun is shining in my window! Guess I'm like a big cat soaking up the sun!
By then it's really later than I should get up! Another thing about January, she always seems to bring cold with her! I know it has been cold all across this country and everyone that doesn't live here says "cold in Fl.??" well yes it has been! One thing that gets us is we live in an old house, so our floors are very cold and air coming in around the windows, and in general, most people here just don't invest in alot of sweaters and fleecy clothing because we would rarely need it. So I guess since this cold spell is lasting so long, it has really hit us hard!!!!!
Ok enough complaining about January, time to say some good things....she does make us want to cuddle on the couch with our family members, or with a good book (which I did this past week!). She makes us want to work that big puzzel,or play games with the Family.
She causes us to stop and take a look at the calendar and do some planning for all the months to come. She inspires us to make those good, hot homecooked meals, and maybe some cinnimon rolls (if you're not avoiding sweets like myself!)!!!! So, she's here, may as well make the best of her stay and concentrate on the good things she brings
. couch time!

I love this post about January!
Great post! I love the new look, too! Yes, January can do things to us, huh? It's better to look at her in a positive light, too. Before you know, February will be here and gone and then March will be here! I always look forward to warmth in the spring, although we've had 2 weeks of springlike warmth. I sleep like you do; my best sleep is after hubby is out of bed. But I have a fabric covered styrofoam panel in the window by the bed to keep out the sun and cold. Some mornings, I wake up and reach over and pull it out and just lie there in the sun. What a treat!
@betheelou - @Richgem - Oh yeah I forgot to mention about enjoying wearing my few pretty sweaters that is too warm to wear any other time! Also that it's a very good time to diet, which i"m doing! can't wit wait to get in that new size!!! Fabric covered styrofoam, now that gives me a good idea! Thanks!
Let's do a puzzle when I get home from art! =)
The snow pic on my blog were from Virginia.
This was fun to read. Stay warm down there
!
Jill......you did a great post!!!!!! Thats a GREAT WAY to describe this time of year. I have already made a note to myself in my calendar for next year......there are some things to wait and do when this time of year approaches. It turns us inwards to decide things so when the time to turn "outwards" comes, we are ready! (being outside, etc)
Thanks! did u enjoy that series of janette Oke's? I haven't done the western ones...
@unworthy_joint_heirs - the one i read so far was Julia's last Hope, it was really good, leah is reading The Call of Emily Evans in that series.
Lol, I love this post & you know the same is said for us here in Ga. the strange thing is I don't have a winter coat...why should I we never get cold weather duh! I have been freezing my tush off...oh I wished lols. & we have a fireplace gas I might add but with our finances being so tight we haven't gotten the tank filled yet who knew we would only be in the double digits!? & I only wear burkenstocks you know with the open heals lols, you should have seen me hunting for a pair of shoes in my closet lols. I found a pair and boy were they tight on my feet ouch! I have to keep my feet in good shape being a diabetic. Anyway thanks for dropping in & for the sweet comment about hubby & me...
