  • Something has that been working for us.....

Just had to share this...you know how you feel when you discover something new..like one of those ahhhh-haaaa moments?? Well I just have realized that by accident , kind of, I've been doing this with my very energetic 7 year old who my time to teach is limited with) that I've been giving her some coloring time when we start school at the school table. It is helping both of us! It seems to get her de-stressed and calm for when we start Math or whatever. It seems to give me a few minutes to get my thoughts together and be calm, or BLOG for a minute!  So I just had to share, and invite any of you today to share something that has worked for you...It doesn't have to be about homeschooling or children.    LOVE ALL OF MY XANGA FRIENDS!!!  ~JILL~

  • isn't funny how something so simple can be so...
like you said, an ahhhh-haaaa moment?!

great idea. love that you shared. and guess what?
I love all of my xanga friends too!

    now let's see...
not very original... but it's the first thing that popped in my brain,
    Coffee works for me!

RYC; I take lots of photos, at least I think I do. Easily 50 to 100 at a time. Now I am waaaay behind in having them uploaded and printed. sigh. And I only have one memory card. dumb. I know. I can think of some easy solutions myself. But too late for those candid shots!

  • My first and biggest "great idea" to start off the school day is to take a few moments with your student/students and bow your heads together and ask God to be in and through all that is done.  Ask Him to bless your students and the time you set aside to school.  Allow them to pray aloud as well.  Emphasize the need for HIS strength and patience to get you through the day.  Glorify Him for the opportunity and blessing it truly is.        Then color!  ; )

  • OK...ahem....when I FINALLY get him out of the bed, out of the shower from primping....I look over the lesson plans for the day and pull out any worksheets. As I am looking it over, I have him do small reading assignments, like a poem, memorization work, etc. I have only started this the past couple of weeks. I get up and do "my stuff" like blogging and all while he is still asleep. He has such a problem with sleeping that I TRY to let him sleep. The hard part is PHYSICALLY getting him UP OUT of the bed!! He can lay there forever!

If I dont do this, he just takes the lesson planner to his room where I cant see it, therefore....thing stend to slide! But doing it like I am now, it makes him and ME more accountable.

  • coloring does have a calming effect around here too:) funny how that goes...such a simple thing yet it works!
